Legacy Equine Nutrition Advisor

Simplified and cost effective nutrition solutions

I’m grateful to have been involved with Dr Rachel Mottet’s Legacy Equine Nutrition Education program since its inception in 2020. I’ve been involved in equine nutrition as a distributor of equine nutrition products, and always had a strong interest in equine nutrition. I’ve taken numerous courses to expand my understanding of equine nutrition over the last 10 years. Discovering the Legacy Equine Nutrition program was a total game changer. I’ve completed ENA 1 & ENA 2, which involved extensive course work, case studies, weekly zoom meetings, in person field work and conference attendance.

Beyond the program of study, involvement in the ENA program has brought me into a community of dedicated equine professionals from around the world. I can reach out to my colleagues in the Legacy program, as well as industry professionals, for assistance and support.

Nutrition consulting - how does this work?

The start of any nutrition program starts with a conversation about your horse (s), your objectives and current program. Understanding the type of activity, level of work and frequency of exercise, current diet and your goals (prepare for show season. improve topline/overall conditioning, manage weight and condition, etc) are all taken into consideration. We look at hay and feed choices, feeding strategies and determine if any nutritional supplements would support your horse.

Nutrition evaluations can be done in person or remotely. However, I really prefer to come out to your ranch and work in person. Seeing your horse in its home or show environment, getting to know you and your horse, asking questions and looking for solutions together is best. Anything from single horses to full barns, any discipline or breed, I’m here to help streamline your feed program, and provide cost effective nutrition programs.

Wait one second, are you just trying to sell me supplements?

No.
Yes.
Maybe.

Yes, I sell equine nutrition products. Since joining the ENA program, I’ve actually dropped a number of products from my offerings. Applying ENA core concepts, I learned that some of those products were not cost effective, or effective. The products I continue to offer are what I consider a closely curated collection of nutrition products that may benefit your horse. But that all depends on your horse.
My focus is on fulfilling your horses basic nutritional foundation needs. Hay, salt, water are essential. From there we determine what vitamin/mineral or ration balancer is needed, or if a performance or senior feed is necessary. If there are gaps in the program that need supplementation, I’ll guide you through the wide variety of available products. There are so many supplements out there, some are very good and some are absolute junk, and pretty much all of them are expensive. We don’t want to create a bunch of expensive manure. As with the Masterson Method, less is more when it comes to feeding horses. You will probably be surprised at how simple it can be.
